Jury Comments:

The jury liked the core idea of planning around a courtyard. The adaptive reuse of taking an abandoned Route 66 hotel and turning it into a private facility that will allow HIV positive individuals to live with grace and dignity was applauded. This project is certified LEED Platinum and is 98% net-zero energy efficient.

The jury appreciated the spiritual thinking behind the project and the quality of light and care in concealing the light sources. They felt the central idea of the circle on which the design is based had strength and added to the spiritual understanding of the project.
