About the Santa Fe Chapter of
The American Institute of Architects

AIA Santa Fe is the local chapter of The American Institute of Architects, representing licensed architects, emerging professionals, and allied members throughout northern New Mexico. The Chapter serves as a convener for dialogue on design, planning, and preservation in a region internationally recognized for its distinctive architectural traditions.
The Chapter was chartered by The American Institute of Architects as an unincorporated association on October 8, 1964, and was then incorporated in New Mexico as a 501 (c) 6 non profit membership organization on June 8, 1987. The Chapter is fully accredited by the Institute through December 31, 2025.
With over 150 Architect, Associate, Emeritus and Individual members, along with its Allied Partners, AIA Santa Fe members contribute professional expertise to help the northern New Mexico community make decisions about an urban fabric that is both historic and dynamic, shaped by ongoing conversations about identity, authenticity, and innovation.
Through classes, lectures, tours, and advocacy, the Chapter highlights the complexity of designing and preserving in a city where architecture is both cultural legacy and living practice.
AIA Santa Fe is headquartered in The Philippe Register Center for Architecture at 444 Galisteo Street in Santa Fe New Mexico.
